HIRE OF ACADEMIC REGALIA FOR THE 2015/2016 MATRICULATION CEREMONY

The Vice-Chancellor, on behalf of the University Senate, has approved that the 34th Matriculation Ceremony of Abia State University should hold on Friday 12, February 2016, at the Matriculation arena. The ceremony begins at 11.00 a.m. prompt.
STUDENTS EXPECTED TO MATRICULATE

1.  Postgraduate students who are not graduates of Abia State University.
2. All first year undergraduate students of the Regular UME, Arts & Science, Distance Education, Sandwich, College of Education, Arochukwu Campus and Law Diploma programmes for the 2015/2016 academic session, WHO HAVE PAID THEIR SCHOOL FEES.
3. Other duly admitted, qualified and cleared students who, for good reasons, could not matriculate in their year of admission.
PROCEDURES/CONDITIONS FOR HIRING OF MATRICULATION REGALIA AND PURCHASE OF THE MATRICULATION BROCHURE BY MATRICULANTS

1.  The hiring cost of the matriculation regalia (gown and cap only) and Brochure is five thousand Naira (N5,000.00) only.
2. Matriculating students should pay for items for the designated Bandk – ABSU Micro-Finance Bank Uturu, First Bank, Fidelity Bank, SKYE Bank, Zenith Bank (all in Umuahia) and UBA Plc Aba-Owerri Road, Aba, and collect their Draft made in favour of Abia State University, proceed to their College/Faculty/Institute Finance Officers and obtain official receipts for the payment. Payment begins immediately.
After payment, students should present their receipts and collect their regalia and brochure from the College/Institute/Faculty Officers.
3. Faculty Officers and College/Institute Secretaries should collect from the University Central Stores, the number of regalia to match the number of matriculating students of their departments. They should also collect the same number of Matriculation Brochures from the office of the Registrar. Issuance of these items to the Students begin on Wednesday 10th February, 2016
4. All hired regalia must be returned to the Faculty Officer and College/Institute Secretaries not later than Friday 15th April, 2016.The penalty for late return of a set of regalia is one thousand Naira (N1,000) per day after deadline.
REPLACEMENT CHARGE

A replacement charge of Ten thousand Naira (N10,000,00) will be paid for the loss of, or damage to, any academic regalia.

The Admissions Unit, Faculty/College/Institute Offices, Central Stores and other relevant Bursary Offices, should work over-time, including on the Matriculation day, to ensure that student, including late-comers, receive adequate attention.
